Senior BI Migration Specialist / Developer

Data Migration
- Lead the migration of existing Power BI reports from the legacy Data Warehouse to the Lakehouse environment.
- Evaluate use cases and recommend the best migration pathway:
• Power BI to Power BI,
• Exposing data directly via the Self- Service Platform.
• Power BI to Databricks Dashboards, or
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of migrated reports and datasets through robust testing and validation.
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to design and implement efficient data models that support reporting and analytics.
- Optimise data pipelines to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and challenge assumptions constructively where necessary.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Extensive experience working as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role.
- Strong hands- on expertise in:
• Power BI (advanced DAX, report optimisation, data modelling).
• Databricks (SQL, PySpark, Lakehouse concepts) or similar data platforms
• T- SQL and complex query development.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling approaches.
- Strong communication skills — able to simplify complex technical concepts for non- technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud- based data platforms (Azure preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large- scale migrations and reporting transformations.
- A self- starter with the ability to work independently and handle competing priorities
- Solid understanding of data integration patterns.
