We are seeking an exceptional AI/ML & Data Science Manager to lead critical initiatives in this transformation.
Position Summary:
The AI/ML & Data Science Manager will lead a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, responsible for developing and deploying advanced analytical models and AI solutions that drive significant business impact across Pharmacity&039;s omni- channel platform. This role will specifically focus on solving complex problems related to demand forecasting, enabling Agentic AI capabilities, enhancing personalization for customers, and optimizing healthcare platform upsell and cross- sell strategies. This leader will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and excellent leadership skills to turn data into actionable insights and intelligent products.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Roadmap:
Define and execute the AI/ML and Data Science strategy for key business areas, including:
Agentic AI: Explore, prototype, and build intelligent agents that can proactively assist customers (e.g., virtual health assistants, intelligent navigators for health information), automate operational tasks, and provide real- time decision support for pharmacists and healthcare professionals on the platform.
Healthcare Platform Upsell & Cross- Sell: Design and deploy AI- driven models to identify optimal upsell (e.g., higher- tier health packages, premium products) and cross- sell opportunities (e.g., complementary products for chronic conditions, related health services) within the healthcare platform, enhancing customer value and revenue.
Demand Forecasting: Develop and implement advanced predictive models to optimize inventory, reduce stockouts, and minimize waste across our vast product catalog (pharmaceuticals, health & beauty, FMCG), accounting for seasonality, promotions, external factors, and unique pharma challenges (e.g., product shelf- life, regulatory changes, varying demand for specific medications).
Personalization: Drive the development of sophisticated recommendation engines, personalized content delivery, and tailored customer journeys across all touchpoints (web, mobile app, in- store, CRM), leveraging diverse customer data.
Translate complex business challenges into data science problems, identifying appropriate methodologies and data requirements.
Build and maintain a prioritized AI/ML roadmap, aligning with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
Model Development & Deployment:
Lead the end- to- end lifecycle of AI/ML models, from data exploration, feature engineering, model selection, training, evaluation, to deployment, monitoring, and retraining in production environments.
Oversee the integration of AI/ML models into various systems (e.g., e- commerce platform, CRM, inventory management, patient engagement tools).
Ensure models are robust, explainable, ethical, and perform at scale.
Champion MLOps best practices, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD for models, and performance monitoring.
Team Leadership & Development:
Build, mentor, and grow a high- performing team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
Conduct performance evaluations, set clear goals, and support career development for team members.
Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, continuous learning, and rigorous scientific inquiry.
Provide technical guidance, architectural oversight, and hands- on support as needed.
Data & Infrastructure Collaboration:
Partner with the CRM & CDP team to leverage customer data for personalization and engagement initiatives.
Work with the Engineering Director to define the necessary infrastructure for AI/ML development and deployment (e.g., computing resources, data lakes, feature stores).
Collaborate closely with Data Engineering teams to ensure the availability of clean, reliable, and well- structured data for model training and inference.
Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate complex analytical findings and AI capabilities to non- technical stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
Present key insights, model performance, and ROI of AI/ML initiatives to senior leadership.
Collaborate with Product Managers to define user stories and ensure AI solutions meet business needs and deliver measurable value.

Yêu cầu công việc

Education: Master&039;s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analysis, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Proven track record of developing and deploying AI/ML solutions that have delivered significant business impact, particularly in:
Demand Forecasting: Experience with time- series forecasting models (e.g., ARIMA, Prophet, deep learning- based methods), inventory optimization, and handling complex factors in retail/pharmaceutical supply chains.
Agentic AI/Generative AI: Hands- on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), agentic architectures, and building conversational AI or intelligent automation solutions.
Personalization/Recommendation Systems: Experience with collaborative filtering, content- based filtering, deep learning models for recommendations, and A/B testing frameworks.
Upsell/Cross- sell Analytics: Experience building predictive models for customer lifetime value (CLTV), churn prediction, next- best- action recommendations, and segmentation strategies.
Strong proficiency in Python (with libraries like scikit- learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy) and/or R.
Experience in the retail, e- commerce, or healthcare industry is highly preferred.
Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Data Version Control).
Experience working with large datasets in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
Expertise in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
Familiarity with X++ development and SQL Server environments would be beneficial for understanding existing data structures and potential integration points within Pharmacity&039;s ecosystem.

Leadership & Mentorship: Strong ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team of highly skilled data scientists and ML engineers.
Problem- Solving: Exceptional ability to break down complex, ambiguous business problems into tractable data science initiatives.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese (highly preferred), with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts and present findings to diverse audiences.
Innovation & Curiosity: Passion for staying abreast of the latest AI/ML research and applying cutting- edge techniques to real- world problems.

Personalization in a Sensitive Domain: Delivering highly individualized product recommendations and healthcare advice while respecting patient privacy and ethical considerations. This involves balancing commercial goals with health outcomes.
Upsell/Cross- sell in Healthcare: Identifying opportunities to offer relevant complementary health products or services (e.g., vitamins with certain medications, follow- up consultations for chronic conditions, health check- up packages) in a way that genuinely benefits the customer&039;s health and builds trust, rather than simply pushing sales.
Agentic AI for Healthcare: Building autonomous or semi- autonomous agents that can provide accurate health information, assist with symptom checking (within ethical boundaries), guide patients through medication adherence, or even facilitate initial patient intake, while ensuring safety, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Demand Forecasting Challenges in Pharma: Managing variability due to disease outbreaks, seasonal illnesses, new drug releases, regulatory changes, and consumer behavior shifts for both prescription and OTC products. The candidate will need to address challenges like sparse data for new products, long tails of low- demand items, and managing expiry dates with forecasts.
