• MS + 5 yrs
• MS (or BS with significant experience) in the Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, or closely related field
• Co-authorship on one or more publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute independent and collaborative research projects.
• She/he will be required to develop additional competencies, apply practical skills and knowledge to solving a variety of applied scientific and technical problems.
• Expertise and hands-on experience in operating and maintaining analytical instruments.
• 1-3 years of hands-on experience with lithium-ion batteries
• At least 3+ years of relevant professional experience or academic research experience
• Demonstration of goal-oriented, hands-on, and innovative approach to problem solving.
• Proficient in the use of methods of instrumental chemical analysis, such as GC/LC-MS, IC, FT-IR, NMR, UV-Vis, DSC/TGA, Raman, XPS, KF Titration, and ICP-MS is essential.
• Must have demonstrated experience and knowledge about applying fundamentals of organic chemistry in LIB materials or related fields.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in conducting GC/LC-MS experiments of Li-ion cells (including sample preparations such as liquid-liquid extraction, centrifuge extraction, solid phase micro-extraction)
*** Additional Desirable Attributes:
• Experience of designing and conducting organic synthesis and polymer synthesis to develop new organic/polymeric compounds with desired physical, chemical, and electrochemical properties is a plus
• Experience of electrochemical characterizations in lithium ion and/or solid-state battery is a plus
• Experience of battery testing equipment is a plus
• Hands-on experience in performing experiments inside controlled environments (glove box, dry room) is preferred
• Polymer characterization techniques, such as rheology, DMA, TMA, tensile testing, flexural testing, creep, fatigue, and chemical resistance testing is a plus
• Familiarity with complementary analytical methods, such as electron microscopy, diffraction, scanning probe techniques, or vibrational spectroscopies
• Ability to perform statistical analysis using software (Minitab or other) and data processing automation (Python or other) is preferred.
