Be proactive and to ensure that key project decisions and/or corrective actions are made in a timely manner, and are well communicated to all staff and client.
Assist with any necessary changes to the project strategy and process, including any necessary financial changes.
Ensure the successful completion and handover of projects and contract obligations are carried accordingly in a timely manner.
Coordinate and integrate MEP design with architectural, structural, and quantity survey drawings.
The MEP Project Coordinator is responsible for ensuring smooth coordination between Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines, and between MEP and other project disciplines such as Architecture, Structure, Quantity Surveying, and Site Execution. The role involves managing technical interfaces, resolving clashes, and supporting timely, accurate, and compliant project delivery.
Review and check design documents, shop drawings, and technical submissions for compliance with codes and standards.
Liaise with and provide engineering advice to the project architects, other engineering disciplines, sub- consultants, government and local authorities, and clients as required.
Support value engineering to optimize design efficiency and cost- effectiveness.
Undertake engineering review and validation of design documents prepared by design team to ensure the design is safe, economical, efficient and constructible.
Liaise with contractors, undertake site inspection duties and assist to resolve construction phase related problems.
Ensure adherence to company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, clients, and authorities during design and approval stages.
Coordinate and monitor with finance department for the timely issuance of progress invoice and the timely collection of design fees.
Review and evaluate project resources, design schedules and to decide whether the projects to be outsourced or it will be internally designed.
Attend client and stakeholder meetings when it is required.
Provide engineering advice/comments in reviewing shop drawings, material and equipment submissions from the contractors.
Ensure that Company’s design and inspection procedures and professional standards/rules are implemented and being followed by all members of the MEP Engineering team, and provide suggestions to the Director on areas of improvement for quality procedures.
Support design team in resolving technical issues, design clashes, and interdisciplinary conflicts.
Prepare and finalized project design brief and specifications in cooperation with the assistance Design Manager or design team.
Provide estimated budget input for MEP design and assist in quantity take- offs for cost planning.
Manage outsourced resources, specifying the qualifications and experience required for the relevant M&E design engineers.
Perform duties assigned by the Director of MEP Engineering/ Senior MEP Engineering Manager including but not limited to: setting and monitoring project scheduling and project budgets; supervise MEP project teams to ensure a high quality of production work; reviewing and checking of drawings, and ensuring that all appropriate authorizations/signatures/stamps are included on drawings before issuance.
Provide technical support or advice to the project QS or Project Manger in the preparation of tender documents and actively participate tender meetings as required.
Conduct Value engineering analysis and make sound recommendations to meet budget requirements.
Ensure the timely completion and submission of required M&E design reports or any technical documents in the submission of designs for approval to the proper authorities such as Building License report, Fire License report and Master Planning report.
Monitor project progress and ensure design deliverables meet the project schedule.
