Senior Shipping Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing shipping and logistics operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing costs, and leading the shipping team to achieve efficiency and accuracy in international and domestic shipments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

Shipping Operations Management:
- Collaborate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and third- party logistics providers to optimize costs and transit times.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of goods to prevent damages and losses.
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with international and local shipping regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate daily logistics activities to ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
- Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations and provide guidance to the team..
- Oversee the preparation and verification of shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure all shipping activities comply with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior shipping staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the shipping team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Problem- Solving & Continuous Improvement:
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, warehouse, and customer service) to streamline logistics operations.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance shipping accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve shipping- related issues, including delays, damages, and discrepancies.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

Experience

- Experience working with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and third- party logistics providers.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge

- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.

- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem- solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in VNACCS software and strong ERP system knowledge.

Other Abilities

- Strong reporting skills; mandatory English proficiency; Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus.
