Support children when emotional and upset in an appropriate way. Excessive bodily contact with pupils, such as kissing or cuddling, should be avoided. However, in Early Years, appropriate care may involve physically comforting a distressed child. This should only occur in an open space, in full view of colleagues and should not be more than is necessary to sooth an upset child.
Health and Safety
Observe students to detect signs of discomfort or distress, illness or injury and alert lead teacher immediately
Never leave a child/class on their own in a room. If taking children to the nurse- leave them there and come straight back up.
