Technical Director SP Group

SP Group, leading utilities group in Asia Pacific, is seeking a Technical Director to lead all technical aspects of the Vietnam solar operating portfolio and development pipeline of new builds. The role will cover management and oversight of the existing solar portfolio, technical due diligence on acquisition targets, design of new sites, contracting, construction monitoring and analysing solar system performance.
What You’ll Do:
• Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of proposals and solutions to customers.
• Setting the strategy for remediation, resolving faults and asset design optimisation to maximise operating value later.
• Contract negotiation and contractor management: Ensuring EPC providers and other contractors meet client’s requirements.
• Driving successful completion of technical issues including failure of the systems.
• Performing technical due diligence activities of pre- construction, including performing and reviewing yield analysis.
• Supporting Business Development team on PPA contract negotiation with client about technical matters.
• Leading the PVsyst simulation team, pre- construction team, and technical design team for Vietnam solar rooftop, and Industrial Zone sector.

What You’ll Need:
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, ideally with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in Vietnam solar PV industry.
• Background in technical consulting, EPC, O&M or asset management environment.
• Fluent in English.
• Track record of managing third party contractors and project delivery.
• Understanding of solar PV technology and complementary technologies.
• Have knowledge about the material supply market (PV panel price, Inverter price, other solar system equipment).
• Experience in the technical aspects of rooftop solar development, especially site optimisation, grid connection and planning is preferred.
• Ability to deliver complex tasks under tight timelines.
• Familiar with use of monitoring software and the review of operational data and experience in the root cause analysis of faults for solar PV projects.
• Good commercial acumen and contracting experience including analysing and reporting on solar systems and contractor’s performance.
