Role Description
This is a full- time on- site role for a Vice Principal at Sedbergh in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Vice Principal will work closely with the Principal to provide academic and pastoral leadership to the school. Responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development, teaching and learning, student assessment, teacher professional development, and student welfare. The Vice Principal will also participate in school events and liaise with parents, teachers, and students.
Liaison with Vietnamese Departments of Education
Keep the Principal and Leadership Chair apprised of government directives.
Monitor the MoET/DoET website to ensure school compliance with government expectations and licensure requirements.
Oversee the Vietnamese curriculum as outlined by the MoET and DoET, encouraging the implementation of Western pedagogy.
Staffing, Supervision of Vietnamese/Expat Staff
Recruit, interview, and make recommendations to the Human Resources Department for hiring Vietnamese/Expat teachers for Grades 6- 12.
Facilitate professional learning.
Work in conjunction with the Principal to ensure an integrated Vietnamese and Expat Teacher timetable driven by students&039; needs.
Create and monitor student and teacher timetables.
Conduct orientation for Vietnamese teachers new to the School.
Submit annual staffing projections.
Conduct teacher performance reviews.
Instructional Leadership
Collect student achievement data.
Collaborate with the Guidance Counselor to meet students&039; academic and socio- emotional needs.
Ensure that courses of study are MoET/DoET and Cambridge compliant and that the timetable guarantees appropriate minutes of instruction.
Work with the Principal and teachers to create and monitor the annual school improvement plan.
Work with teachers to set subject- specific goals.
Grade Reporting
Proofread assessments before implementation to ensure consistency and alignment.
Proofread teacher report card comments.
Set the exam and supervision schedules.
Parent/Community Outreach
Provide weekly/monthly calendars through the school website.
Attend parent council meetings.
Regularly liaise with parents.
Management of Discipline Issues
Chair the school Health and Safety Team.
Perform duties as assigned by the Principal or Chair of the School Leadership Team.
Maintain a facilities and health and safety log.
Requirements:
To become a Vice Principal, you will need a Master&039;s degree/PHD, along with several years of teaching and management experience. Candidates should be familiar with MoET, Integrated Programme (MoET Subject + Ontario), and Cambridge Programme. This position also requires strong English language skills.
