The Director of Air Freight is responsible for overseeing the air freight operations for the SEA cluster. This role requires strategic planning, managing key client relationships, optimizing operations, and ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations. This role is based in Vietnam and reports directly to Vice President of Freight Forwarding.
Key Accountabilities
Ensuring adherence to local and international air cargo regulations, rules, and safety protocols.
Implementing and maintaining effective tracking and monitoring systems to provide clients and stakeholders with real- time visibility.
The Director of Air Freight will collaborate closely with the Commercial Logistics SEA team to create and execute strategies aimed at driving growth and profitability within the air freight division.
Overseeing the complete end- to- end air freight process, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and timely and accurate service delivery.
Developing and nurturing relationships with airlines, airports, General Sales Agents (GSA), ground handling, freight forwarders, and other important industry partners.
Working in conjunction with the sales and marketing teams to identify and pursue potential clients, engaging in contract negotiations and establishing service terms.
Taking charge of building, guiding, and mentoring a team of air freight professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high achievement.
Monitoring performance metrics and generating regular reports to assess and evaluate the air freight division&039;s performance.
Keeping a close eye on market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
Driving cost optimization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency while upholding service quality.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Bachelor&039;s Degree or Master&039;s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is usually required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders effectively, strong negotiation and relationship- building abilities to establish and maintain partnerships with airlines, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in air freight operations, with in- depth knowledge of the air freight industry, including trends, market conditions, regulations, customs procedures, documentation, and competition in Southeast Asia
Proven experience in managing and leading teams in a fast- paced and dynamic environment, strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
Ability to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve service quality, familiarity with freight management systems and technologies.
