JOB DESCRIPTION
The Purpose of Your Role
As the Data Engineer, you are responsible for building and maintaining an organization’s entire data ecosystem, which includes everything from data sources and databases to data storage solutions. This also includes building data pipelines that are used to transport data from a data source to a data warehouse. These pipelines are crucial: they are what enable an organization to access and analyze its data, and use the insights to make business decisions. Data pipelines transport and transform data according to established business rules or a line of exploratory analysis the business wants to undertake.
Your Key Responsibilities
Deliver Advanced Technique ServicesPlanning and Constructing Data Warehouses:
● As a member of the Data Engineering team, you&039;ll assist the Senior Data Engineer in executing the Data Engineer Roadmap. Daily tasks will require using: Bigquery, Python, Colab, API, Cloud, Airflow, Python, Appscript,..
● For Internal Data: Collaborate closely with the devs and product teams to establish data pipelines feeding into BigQuery.
● For External Data: Establish connections, whether through APIs or other means, to stream external data into BigQuery.
● Managing BigQuery: Optimize scripts and queries for efficiency, considering our BigQuery cost KPI. Strategically architect the database to ensure flexibility for evolving business needs, as well as for maintenance and upgrades.
Utilizing Data for Business:
● Collaborate closely with Business Intelligence to ensure that data outcomes are both usable and stable for business and client stakeholders. Additionally, provide documentation and training support as needed.
● Modeling based on Business Requirements.
Your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will encompass:
● 100% completion of the Data Engineering Roadmap
● Bug rates and data fulfillment metrics
● Management of database costs
Data GovernanceData governance will be a very important part of your role as Date Engineer. Primarily, you will be responsible for protecting your organization’s data from interference, theft, corruption, and loss. Governing data includes creating strategic data access policies, both internally and externally.
● Keep up with ever- changing data protection regulations.
● Avoid data breaches by ensuring that everyone who can access information is authorized.
● Put measures to protect stored data and data that is being transmitted.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for driving data security awareness across the organization by outlining and enforcing rules, rights, and accountabilities. It is helpful if a set of standards is in place in regard to naming, abbreviation, acronyms, etc. Consistency in these areas will help data to be easily catalogued and make sure that employees can find the data they are looking for without wasting time. Crucially, you will need to keep data ethics at the forefront of your operation. This includes:
● Protecting collected data from leaks.
● Being aware of the intentions of anyone who might want to purchase your data.
● Ensuring your own organization is using data ethically.
REQUIREMENTS
Who do we want?
● Columnar database knowledge
● 1- 3 years experience in relate position
● Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
● Hands- on experience with SQL database design. Python is a plus.
● Great numerical and analytical skills
● Good critical and logical thinking skills
● Good English communication skills
