IT System & Network Technician

The IT System & Network Technician is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the company&039;s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and telecommunications systems. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, performing system upgrades, and ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent problem- solving skills, and a solid understanding of network and system administration within a business environment.
Duties may include but are not limited to:

Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation.
Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications and virus protection software.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
Provide user support for all printer, photocopier, and AV equipment.
Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software, and operating system software.
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Monitor network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Strong technical expertise in network systems, server hardware/software, and telecommunications.
Excellent problem- solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to participate in on- call support rotation and provide after- hours support as needed.
Experience with network security measures and best practices.
Proficiency in network and system monitoring tools.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network and system administration.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
