JOB SUMMARY
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for coordinating with other function teams to perform specific assessments, inventories and inspections that support the site achieve zero injuries, zero environmental incidents, and zero non- conformances within the following functions: occupational safety, industrial/chemical (process) safety; industrial hygiene and environmental protection through function teams, under direction from site EHS leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leverage knowledge of all EHS regulations, standards and requirements that affect/apply to the businesses in their site including:
Performs gap analysis and internal audits against global EHS Policy as well as international standards (ISO14001, OSHAS18001, EICC EHS Code Conformance…etc.)
Leverages technical expertise to develop solutions to close any gaps
Analyze and Quantify risks and support others through the development of solutions and programs that mitigate EHS risks, providing feedback and expertise, including
Participates in Job Safety Analysis (JSA);
Describes ideal conditions (both Environmental and Health & Safety) and
Holds others accountable for determining and implementing appropriate solutions
Participates in incident investigations, of a lower to medium risk, including
Facilitates Root Cause analysis utilizing approaches such as 8D or CAPA
Verifies corrective actions are completed and sustained at project level
Ensures that actions are entered into the Incident Management System according to Policy
Work with in established guidelines for the continual improvement of the Environmental Health and Safety Department
Analyze options and decisions based on long- term pay- offs or outcomes
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Assist or provide specialized training classes pertaining to environmental industrial hygiene and/or safety- related subjects to various personnel within the company
Interact with internal and external customers, including facilitating government inspections, and providing information to government/customer inquiries
Leverage a variety of resources at the site to solve and manage EHS programs
Participate in EHS risk assessments and accident/incident investigations
Effective at securing support and resources for new ideas and leading people successfully through change. Determine need for external EHS knowledge in developing new programs and procedures as needed
Work with other function teams to review and monitoring of implementation of the risk control processes
Identify gaps and persistently follow- up in program execution and escalate where necessary
