Responsibilities
Overview
This Asia- based position will be responsible for technical development of Giro’s seasonal footwear collection, from technical package hand- off through commercialization. Specifically involved with pattern, material and tooling development, model costing and timeline management. This position will work in direct coordination with Giro’s North America Product Creation Team (PM, Designer…) contract factories and other cross- functional Vista teams. The Project Development Manager will report to the Giro Footwear Category Manager.
Plan and execute development according to critical dates according to the development schedule and performance goals and address challenges and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested product
Work with the Production Creation Team and Operations departments to improve cost and ease of manufacturing throughout development and after product launch
Evaluate 2D & 3D tooling files to verify Giro performance standards, design intent and manufacturability before prototyping
Coordinate and review the factory pattern making to ensure design intent and product objectives are met while maintaining quality standards, manufacturability, best production practices and costing goals
Apply fundamental understandings of product and category objectives, quality goals to recommend and specify to Product Creation team the material, component, and construction options to meet key features, product performance and costing goals
Participate in meetings during all phases of the development process and execute the decision- making process that leads to on- time product confirmation and sample delivery by consistently reviewing and evaluating project status with the Product Creation team
Lead technical details of model commercialization in regard to size grading of pattern and tooling with regards to the o
Ensure proper testing of materials and components through factory and outside testing labs relying on ASTM and Industry Standard protocol.
Lead vendor visits with clear day- by- day agenda of action items, such as sample review, material vendor introductions, costing meetings and production line and mold shop tours, as needed
Manage sample room project list in conjunction with seasonal priorities and input from Product Creation Team
Maintain design documentation such as engineering drawings, product and material specifications, bill of materials, etc. to assure quality in product designs
