JOB DESCRIPTION
Project Overview
The intern will work on a real- world industrial project for one of Tekia’s clients, aiming to improve and automate their manufacturing workflow.
Specifically, the project involves developing an intelligent vision- based system to automatically detect and count shrimp that have had their heads and shells removed by workers. The counted quantity is directly linked to worker productivity and payment, making accuracy and robustness critical.
The system will process image and video data captured by one or more cameras in a real production environment, potentially monitoring multiple workers with a single camera. Challenges include varying lighting conditions, overlapping objects, motion, and occlusion.
This internship focuses on research, prototyping, and implementation, with a strong emphasis on computer vision, image processing, and AI- based object detection.
Key Responsibilities:
Learn and apply computer vision techniques for real- world applications
Support data collection and model training tasks
Document progress, experiments and technical learnings
Occasional site visits to factories may be required as part of the project
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
Student in Computer Science or related fields
Knowledge of programming in Python and C/C++
Understanding of computer vision fundamentals, including image processing and object detection
Understanding of machine learning or deep learning concepts
Ability to work independently, learn new technologies, and experiment with different approaches
Good problem- solving and analytical skills
Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Previous academic, personal, or professional projects related to computer vision or image processing
Knowledge of camera systems or image acquisition hardware
