Head of Data Governance (Manager, Python, Data Analyst)

Responsible for overseeing and managing an organization&039;s data governance framework to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations. This role leads a data governance team experts and involves developing and implementing policies, processes, and procedures related to data management as well as regulatory and VIB standards, collaborating with various departments, and leading a team of data governance professionals

Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data across the organization.
Establish a robust data ownership, data domain, data catalog and metadata management system, etc…
Provide training, coaching, and support to colleagues on data governance best practices, tools, and techniques.
Perform regular monitoring activities to identify and resolve data quality issues (e.g., duplicates, inconsistencies, missing values) across multiple systems and databases.
Develop and oversee data privacy and security policies and procedures.
Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with the organization’s objectives.
Develop and implement data quality metrics and monitoring processes.
Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.

Compliance and data security: Deep understanding of regulations related to data security and privacy, as well as experience in implementing data security measures.
Bachelor&039;s or Master&039;s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Leadership and management skills: Ability to lead teams, develop talent, and manage complex projects.
Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
Strong analytical thinking and problem- solving abilities to identify root causes of data quality issues and develop effective solutions
Experience: 3+ years of experience in data management/ data governance or similar role within the life insurance industry or other relevant financial services sector.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast- paced environment.
Familiarity with data management tools such as Data360, Informatica, Databrick Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, or other relevant software packages.
Technical skills: strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and/or SAS for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization
