About the Portals team
The Portals org is composed of teams that own customer- facing portals/dashboards for our clients and merchants, and also used by internal teams at Ascenda to manage our operations, customer service, and marketing. These engineering systems tackle challenges related to availability, multi- tenancy, auditability, security, and configurability.
In the first half of 2024, an existing portal was expanded to support customer- facing functionalities for managing campaigns and rewards offerings, and a new portal was built for our loyalty partners. In the second half of the year, the team will work on exciting business- critical features such as improving the client enrollment process, extending campaigns functionality, and upgrading our tech to support a much larger scale of customers – all in service of helping them create meaningful reward programs to cultivate and maintain customer loyalty.
About the role
As a backend engineer in the Portals org, you will:
Own problems end- to- end, engaging closely with our designers, product owners and other engineering team members to develop brand new features like custom campaigns builder, payment integrations, and a world- class customer onboarding experience
Participate in day- to- day work such as sprint planning, pair programming, technical mentorship, and code reviews.
Mentor fellow engineers on their technical skills and career growth, to become future leaders and the next generation of subject matter experts at Ascenda.
Serve as a role model for high Engineering standards, bringing consistency and quality to our codebases and operational processes.
Handle production incidents and improve operational processes, monitoring, and tooling to minimise their impact and have a world- class incident management process.
Solve problems across multiple Engineering areas, such as performance, security, multi- tenancy, and availability, considering business impact, reliability, operability, ease of integration, and cost of our production APIs.
Craft secure, performant and user- friendly solutions to empower our customers to manage their SaaS loyalty programs efficiently
Enhance our web application and backend services with dynamic access control and user permissions
